bad things

You must be feeling so down now. I don't know what to say about any of this except I'm so sorry. I can't imagine what you're going through with your Mom AND the worry about your job now too. You're in my heart.

I'm just only now hearing about the shootings. Wow! I haven't even listened to the radio today! How very sad and now I'm seeing that some of the media is trying to blame the dorms for not locking down? Crazy! Now how can they possibly lock that many doors in a public dorm and still let people come and go as usual. It's almost as if the media expected Virginia Tech to have forseen all of this.

Sorry for rambling... I know you must not feel like hearing all of this ... just know my thoughts are with you. God bless!

I'm so, so sorry. This must be a very strenuous time for you. I hope you can find a list of "good things" to keep you going.
The only thing I can tell you is to remember that misfortune and disaster are the yang to the yin of happiness. You can only be sad about your mother because you have a mother to love and you do love her and are loved by her. The tragedy of Virginia Tech is only a tragedy because of what was lost -- because of the wonderful potential of those 33 people and the joy they could have experienced had they lived longer. If 33 mice had died, or 33 trees, or 33 fish, we wouldn't care, because there was nothing important to lose in the first place.

They say "better to have loved and lost", because love in the necessary precursor to loss and -- sad to say -- loss is the inevitable consequence of love. We should celebrate the joys of our life and the people we love even as we mourn their passing.

As for the job thing -- keep things in perspective. Losing a job sucks, but it's just a job and you can get another one.
