As Halloween costumes go, this is a bit esoteric (but it is pure Jinx). I hope someone from KOL sees this and adds a comment.
I'm not terribly craftsy, but I made the T-shirt with a Sharpie and a craft-store light box. I did the front the night before, and the back in the morning. I didn't really want to, but Jinx insisted. "That's what makes it funny!"
I got my assignment last Thursday. That's all I want to think about right now. Yesterday, I was a Godawful wreck. Today I just want to work on my assignment. The sooner I get it in, the sooner I get paid, the sooner I can move on.
But tomorrow is Halloween, so I must wear my Mom hat, too. Jinx wants a flyswatter and a T-shirt that that reads Gnollish Flyslayer. This item is not to be had prêt-a-porter, you understand. So I'm trying to decide whether I should use iron-on letters or copy the words by hand using a tracing table and a big black Sharpie.
If I tell anyone he is going as a Gnollish Flyslayer, a mob from Kingdom of Loathing, he is quick to correct me. "No Mom," he says. "I'm not going as a Gnollish Flyslayer. I'm going as a Sauceror disguised as a Gnollish Flyslayer."
I also need to find out if I'm still expected to make a beauty pageant contestant's sash that says "Miss New Jersey." The girls and their friend Astrid want to go as beauty queens from New York, New Jersey, and New Hampshire. (I'll leave it up to you to determine why three California girls chose this triumvirate of states.)
None of this is even taking into account the uncarved pumpkins littering my front porch. Ay chihuahua.
