I live in a small town in Northern California, in a building that dates from the 1860s (a former Chinese gambling parlor and bordello, I'm told, although no one is getting lucky here lately). My place is very close to the water's edge, so I can look out my window and see the new bridge, which is always lit up at night, and watch big cargo ships from the Far East gliding across the channel. If you pay attention, you can hear--and see--trains rattling along under the hills across the water.
I trained as a journalist and have worked variously as a freelance writer, editor, copy editor, and proofreader. I also studied creative writing, and while I am not demonstrably ambitious, I hope to make a meaningful contribution to the world of letters before I die. Meaningful to me, anyway. I work part-time in the evenings as a reading and writing tutor. During the day, I homeschool my son and try to steal time to write. I love books, funny movies, and hanging out with my kids.
